Makar Sankranti

A highly sacred festival marking the Sun’s transition into Capricorn, symbolising light, spiritual upliftment and abundance.

Makar Sankranti is a highly sacred festival marking the Sun’s transition into Capricorn, symbolising light, spiritual upliftment, and abundance. In 2026, the auspicious Sankranti moment occurs on 14 January 2026 at 3:06 PM, and the meritorious period continues until sunset.

As explained by Sri Nikhil Chetana Kendra, Hyderabad, devotees are encouraged to perform charity, chanting, spiritual worship, and offerings according to their birth star (Nakshatra). Each star is guided with specific do’s and don’ts, suitable offerings, and devotional mantras. These practices help remove karmic burdens, bless the family with health, wealth, prosperity, and spiritual harmony, and invoke the grace of Lord Surya Bhagavan.

Devotees are also encouraged to perform Dana Sankalpa (charity vow) with pure intention for divine fulfilment and righteous prosperity.
